📐 Quantity Surveyor
Location: Gloucester (within 1 hour)
Sector: Insurance Loss, General Works, Refurbishment
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + Car / Package
The Opportunity
A great opportunity for an intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist property services division delivering insurance loss, reinstatement and general refurbishment projects.
This role suits a commercially minded surveyor who enjoys varied projects, smaller values, autonomy and working within a close-knit, experienced team on negotiated and schedule of rates work.
Projects typically range from £10,000 – £500,000 and cover fire, flood, subsidence, schools, residential blocks and commercial refurbishments.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for:

Pricing tendered and negotiated projects from first principles.

Measuring works on site and from drawings.

Producing and submitting quotations.

Negotiating contract sums and variations.
-
Preparing monthly valuations, forecasts and final accounts.

Procuring and managing subcontract packages.

Checking and agreeing subcontractor payments and variations.

Maintaining photographic and project records.
-
Attending site and team meetings.
-
Providing commercial advice to site and contracts teams.

About You

Experience in general works, insured loss or refurbishment projects.

Comfortable pricing from labour, plant and materials basics.

Understanding of schedule of rates and measured term contracts.

Good knowledge of JCT contracts and building regulations.

Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Team player who enjoys working in a small, collaborative environment.

Looking for long-term stability rather than frequent job moves.
This role is not suited to:

Volume residential “house-bash” surveyors.

Surveyors used only to multi-million pound new build projects.
