Technical Manager – Newport (Social Housing Contractor) – £50k–£60k + Package
Role Overview
You will join as a Technical Manager with accountability for delivering technical excellence across residential/social housing developments in Newport. You’ll succeed a long-standing role and become the trusted technical custodian within a collaborative SME main contractor team.
Key Responsibilities

Lead technical oversight across new residential developments valued between £2m–£9m, with a focus on affordable/social housing projects.

Guide projects from pre-contract through to practical completion and handover, supporting Construction, Commercial, and Finance teams when needed.

Support the senior project team with strategic technical input, ensuring quality, compliance, and delivery to specification.

Provide technical mentorship and problem-solving across site teams, driving continuous improvement and constructability solutions.

Represent the technical profile of the business with clients, consultants, and supply partners, fostering effective communication and partnership.
Requirements

Construction-sector technical experience, particularly within residential or affordable housing; project values typically ranging £2–9 million.

Strong working knowledge of JCT Design and Build contracts.

Demonstrable success in managing multi-disciplinary technical delivery throughout project lifecycles.

Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.

Self-motivated team player with ability to manage workplans independently.

Personable presence to effectively champion technical standards across project teams.
